She sits at the water's edge, back turned to everything but herself. A koi drifts past overhead, gold and coral against a sky stitched from old maps, streets she's walked, rivers she's crossed, places that made her who she is. Beneath her, roots spill down into the water like memory made visible, tangled, searching, holding on to what the mind has long since let go of.

Where Roots Remember is a meditation on origin, on the parts of us that stay rooted in a place, a person, a version of ourselves, even after memory fades. Vintage map fragments ground the piece in real geography, while the koi and moon carry the same dreamlike symbolism found throughout Rita's work: transformation, intuition, and the pull between what we know and what we feel.

About the Artist
Rita Irvin is a self-taught mixed-media artist born and raised in West Berlin, Germany. Her work explores memory, emotion, and transformation through layered textures, surreal symbolism, and dreamlike imagery. Influenced by Dali, Frida Kahlo, and Georgia O'Keeffe, Rita developed her own visual language without formal training, shaped by years in interior design and a lifelong immersion in art and architecture. Each print is a signed, numbered limited edition, a faithful reproduction of an original work, printed on archival fine art paper.
