I painted a thoroughbred at full stride, a jockey in blue and white checkered silks leaning low over the saddle, both caught mid-gallop against a silver-leafed ground.
I built the background from layered vintage newsprint and hand-applied silver leaf, old racing headlines still visible underneath, worked in ink and mixed media.

About the Artist
Rita Irvin is a self-taught mixed-media artist raised in West Berlin, Germany. Her paintings work through memory, emotion, and transformation, built in layered textures and imagery. Influenced by Dalí, Frida Kahlo, and Georgia O'Keeffe, Rita developed her own visual language without formal training, shaped by years in interior design and a lifelong immersion in art and architecture.
