Local Legend - Original Mixed Media on Canvas | Rita Irvin
I built this one for the locals who never stop paddling out.
A golden retriever in board shorts and shades carves the face of a lace-crested wave at sunset, tongue out, tail up. The wave is built from hand-applied lace, and a compass rose anchors the golden sky above her. Hibiscus blooms peek through the foam, and I hand-lettered three lines across the canvas: "Ride the current, trust the pull." "Where the waves guide my soul..." "The sun always rises for those who keep paddling."

About the Artist
Rita Irvin is a self-taught mixed-media artist raised in West Berlin, Germany. Her paintings work through memory, emotion, and transformation, built in layered textures and imagery. Influenced by Dalí, Frida Kahlo, and Georgia O'Keeffe, Rita developed her own visual language without formal training, shaped by years in interior design and a lifelong immersion in art and architecture. Every piece is a one-of-a-kind original, made by hand and never reproduced.
