I carved her directly into the wood, eight arms filling the panel, gold-etched lines following the grain underneath.

Each tentacle is studded by hand with real screws, bolts, and brass gears, set into channels of magenta and crimson. Newspaper collage is inked into the wood beneath it all.

About the Artist
Rita Irvin is a self-taught mixed-media artist raised in West Berlin, Germany. Her paintings work through memory, emotion, and transformation, built in layered textures and imagery. Influenced by Dalí, Frida Kahlo, and Georgia O'Keeffe, Rita developed her own visual language without formal training, shaped by years in interior design and a lifelong immersion in art and architecture. Every piece is a one-of-a-kind original, made by hand and never reproduced.
