I painted the woman first. I wanted her coming up out of water.

She was working through things in her mind, once she knew, more and more flowers appeared until they covered her.

The title came while I was still in it. Blossoming, a fresh start, kept crossing my mind.

About the Artist
Rita Irvin is a self-taught mixed-media artist raised in West Berlin, Germany. Her paintings work through memory, emotion, and transformation, built in layered textures and imagery. Influenced by Dalí, Frida Kahlo, and Georgia O'Keeffe, Rita developed her own visual language without formal training, shaped by years in interior design and a lifelong immersion in art and architecture. Every piece is a one-of-a-kind original, made by hand and never reproduced.
