I built this close, cropping in until the face fills the whole canvas, nowhere left to look but straight into it.

I worked it loose, in streaks of crimson, gold, and slate, letting the features dissolve into color and pull back again.

About the Artist
Rita Irvin is a self-taught mixed-media artist raised in West Berlin, Germany. Her paintings work through memory, emotion, and transformation, built in layered textures and imagery. Influenced by Dalí, Frida Kahlo, and Georgia O'Keeffe, Rita developed her own visual language without formal training, shaped by years in interior design and a lifelong immersion in art and architecture.
