The Navigator - Original Mixed Media on Wood | Rita Irvin
I built the tarpon from the world itself. Hand-cut aluminum scales catch light the way a real fish does, each one placed by hand, overlapping. The eye is mesh and hardware, the fins salvaged metal, the belly worked in orange. Underneath it all: vintage maps, newspaper, and acrylic.

About the Artist
Rita Irvin is a self-taught mixed-media artist raised in West Berlin, Germany. Her paintings work through memory, emotion, and transformation, built in layered textures and imagery. Influenced by Dalí, Frida Kahlo, and Georgia O'Keeffe, Rita developed her own visual language without formal training, shaped by years in interior design and a lifelong immersion in art and architecture. Every piece is a one-of-a-kind original, made by hand and never reproduced.
