I painted her at the water's edge, back turned to everything but herself.

A koi drifts past overhead, gold and coral against a sky stitched from old map fragments, streets and rivers layered in. A compass points every direction at once, and a key hangs from a chain, unclaimed. Roots spill down into the water beneath her, and the moon watches from above.

About the Artist
Rita Irvin is a self-taught mixed-media artist raised in West Berlin, Germany. Her paintings work through memory, emotion, and transformation, built in layered textures and imagery. Influenced by Dalí, Frida Kahlo, and Georgia O'Keeffe, Rita developed her own visual language without formal training, shaped by years in interior design and a lifelong immersion in art and architecture. Every piece is a one-of-a-kind original, made by hand and never reproduced.
